Vintage teardrop mountain dulcimer made by the noted mountain and hammered dulcimer luthier Jim Fyhrie. Instrument was produced by his Plectrum Instrument Company of Laguna, CA in August 1977.
The dulcimer is in excellent condition with nothing other than minor scuffs and some fret wear. Tuners in excellent condition and set up with new strings. Inlaid fretboard.
Dulcimer has VSL of 29 7/8", overall length is 38 1/2".
4 strings with double melody set up. Strings can be set up for 3 string or 4 string equidistant. Traditional fret set up (no 6+ fret.)
Body has raised feet to improve sound quality and volume when played on a hard surface, but still fits well for lap playing.
A classic instrument handmade by a well respected maker of the west coast scene. Sound is crisp and bright with good volume.
